Job description

We are currently working with a Local Authority in the North East, as they are looking for a Contracts Solicitor to join the team on a locum basis for an initial 3-months, with potential for extension.

The position is due to start immediately on a full-time basis, and the hourly rate is £60 via an Umbrella company (negotiable based on PQE).

The ideal candidate will have experience of drafting public sector contracts and agreements, with knowledge of public procurement frameworks and subsidy control.

Duties will include (but are not limited to):

  • Handling a broad range of contracts and agreements on behalf of the Council, including business as usual supply contracts and agreements, and some construction works involving NEC & JCT contracts
  • Advising on procurement matters, commercial contracts and subsidy control, as well as some governance matters
  • Ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, regulation and policies
  • Providing advice on public procurement regulations and tendering processes
  • Liaising with internal stakeholders and third-party clients in respect of contractual obligations

The successful candidate will be required to attend on their first day to collect equipment and attend an induction. Beyond this they can offer fully remote working, for candidates based further afield there may be negotiations on this.

Working hours:

  • 37 hours per week
  • Monday – Friday
