Job summary

Newsquest in London is seeking a Community Video Reporter for the Hammersmith & Fulham area. You will spend your days in the community, reporting from the field, filming and editing short-form video content for social platforms, and leveraging AI tools to transform reporting into written articles.

You will present on camera, engage with residents and stakeholders, and work with editors to shape compelling local stories that grow audience and brand presence.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated ability to independently shoot, edit and produce engaging vertical video content for social platforms using a smartphone.
• Genuine passion for local journalism and community storytelling.
• Excellent communication and confidence speaking with diverse people.
• Ability to quickly build rapport and gain interviewee trust.
• Confidence presenting directly to camera.
• Strong news judgement and instinct for compelling angles.
• Excellent headline writing skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage your diary.
• Strong social media awareness and content performance understanding.
• Enthusiasm for AI-assisted reporting tools and contributing to newsroom workflows.
• Understanding of media law, accuracy and journalistic ethics.
• Live within Hammersmith & Fulham or close enough to work daily.

Responsibilities

• Find and produce original local stories from across Hammersmith & Fulham.
• Film and edit engaging short-form video content for social platforms.
• Present confidently on camera and be the face of the site.
• Approach the public, businesses, groups and stakeholders for interviews.
• Build trust and strong community relationships.
• Spot trends through social media and local networks.
• Monitor public records and council updates for news opportunities.
• Use AI tools to turn interviews into written articles.
• Write headlines, introductions and social captions.
• Collaborate with editors to shape story angles.
• Grow audience engagement and brand awareness through quality video journalism.
