Role Overview:
An opportunity has arisen for a Local Authority Designated Officer (LADO) within the Safeguarding and Quality Assurance Service in Hereford. This statutory role offers a competitive hourly rate and the chance to make a meaningful impact in safeguarding children.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as the key point of contact for managing and coordinating allegations against individuals working with children in paid or voluntary roles.
  • Provide expert advice and guidance to employers and organisations about concerns regarding adults whose behaviour may present a risk to children.
  • Ensure that allegations are managed efficiently and fairly, following statutory requirements and best practice.
  • Work collaboratively with stakeholders and partner agencies to safeguard the welfare of children.
  • Scrutinise and challenge multi-agency practice to ensure robust and effective risk management.

Candidate Requirements:

  • Degree in Social Work with registration to Social Work England (SWE).
  • Extensive post-qualification experience in children’s safeguarding.
  • In-depth knowledge of the LADO role, statutory guidance and relevant legislation.
  • Strong risk management skills with proven multi-agency working experience.
  • Ability to adapt quickly, analyse processes, and challenge where necessary.
