Job Title: Loading Shovel Driver – Waste Management

Location: Colchester
Salary: £13.00ph
Job Type: Temporary – 4 week booking
Shift Pattern: Monday to Friday 7.00am till 4pm

Job Overview:

We are currently recruiting an experienced Loading Shovel Driver to work at a busy waste management and recycling facility. The successful candidate will be responsible for the safe and efficient movement of waste materials using a wheeled loading shovel, ensuring the smooth running of operations on-site.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate a loading shovel to load and move waste materials, including general waste, recyclables, and aggregates.
  • Supply material to the processing lines and load outgoing vehicles as required.
  • Maintain loading areas by regularly removing build-up and keeping the site tidy.
  • Perform daily equipment checks and report any faults or maintenance needs.
  • Follow all health, safety, and environmental guidelines on-site.
  • Work closely with the operations team to meet productivity targets.
  • Accurately complete any relevant paperwork or use site systems to record material movement.

Requirements:

  • Valid Loading Shovel license (e.g., NPORS, CPCS, or in-house certificate with proof of competency).
  • Proven experience operating a loading shovel in a waste, recycling, or similar industrial environment.
  • Good knowledge of site safety procedures and equipment checks.
  • Ability to work under pressure and in a fast-paced environment.
  • Reliable, flexible, and a good team player.

Desirable:

  • Experience with other plant machinery (e.g., 360 Excavator, Telehandler).
  • Manual handling or First Aid training.
  • Awareness of environmental regulations in waste handling.
