What’s the role

The LNG Technical Advisor role will be based at the London office and will work alongside the LNG Trading, Operations and Freight teams in that region. The LNG Advisor’s technical expertise is employed to support the LNG commercial operations by providing guidance on Sales and Purchase Agreements, Term or Spot Deal approvals, Quality and Quantity assurance of all LNG cargos and assistance for measurement dispute resolutions.

In addition, the LNG Technical Advisor will support all regional LNG terminals by reviewing and validating custody transfer equipment, approving laboratory facilities and assuring all measurement processes.

What you’ll be doing

As an LNG Technical Advisor your main responsibilities will include:

  • Act as the primary point of contact for the LNG trading hub in London.
  • Monitor cargo data via QCM (Quality Control Module)
  • Validate and approve Measurement and Testing clauses in commercial contracts and lifting agreements.
  • Support trading operations in day-to-day shipment of LNG cargo.
  • Dispute resolution - technical issues e.g., off spec cargos, equipment failure, warranty claims.
  • Develop LNG measurement and testing standards.
  • Stand as the process owner to oversee adoption of industry standards in practice by both internal and external testing facilities doing business with Shell.
  • Provide training to internal and external customers regarding LNG Measurement, Quality and Custody Transfer equipment.
What you bring

We are keen to hear from candidates with the following experience:

  • Baccalaureate degree in science, engineering, maritime-related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Significant working experience in LNG custody transfer measurement, supply chain operations, and technical/operational aspects of LNG vessels (FSRU/FSU preferred).
  • Strong understanding of LNG and natural gas characteristics, including interchangeability, and ability to apply this knowledge to operational activities.
  • Familiarity with LNG commercial drivers and contracts, and their impact on supply chain and physical operations.
Skills & Competencies
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Demonstrated leadership in LNG subject matter.
  • Experience collaborating within global, cross-cultural teams and engaging with diverse stakeholders.
  • High attention to accuracy and detail.
  • Strong communication skills.
