LNG Analyst - Middle Office

Cititec is partnered with a top commodities trading firm who are looking for an LNG Analyst to join their middle office team. This role plays a key part in producing daily P&L, exposure, and pricing reports, while also supporting the trading desk with cargo economics, scenario analysis, and optimisation strategies.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and deliver accurate daily P&L, position, and pricing reports for the LNG trading desk.
- Perform daily marking of LNG curves, engaging with traders when necessary to validate prompt market levels.
- Track and analyse market developments to form an independent perspective on prices and trends.
- Support the desk by modelling cargo economics, running scenarios, and identifying optimisation opportunities.
- Verify that both physical and structured trades are correctly booked and valued in the system.
- Clearly communicate P&L drivers and position details to front office and management.
- Operate and interpret external valuation models for complex deal structures.
- Proactively monitor and reconcile P&L and risk exposures to ensure positions reflect actual value.
- Oversee adherence to risk-related limits and escalate when needed.
- Build, maintain, and enhance tools used for P&L analysis and position queries.
- Maintain up-to-date documentation on structured deals and middle office procedures.
- Take ownership of middle office tools and ensure their reliability.
- Coordinate with external auditors during annual reviews and reconciliations.
- Partner with IT teams to support, develop, and test enhancements to the ETRM system.
Qualifications
- Experience working in an LNG / Gas Risk / Middle Office function
- Strong understanding of physical markets
- Strong IT skills in Excel & SQL
- Knowledge of the following a plus: Accounting and Financial reporting / LNG and Shipping physical operations / Other functions in an energy or commodity trading company e.g. Trade finance, credit, treasury, compliance etc. / Oil & Gas markets / ETRM / CTRM systems.
- Bachelor's degree and or Masters, in a science, mathematical, engineering, accounting or economist discipline.
