Job summary

True North Talent Limited is seeking an experienced Livestock Buyer for central Scotland to source cattle and sheep for a major food manufacturing business. The role emphasizes building long-term relationships with farmers and suppliers and requires hands-on field work across Scotland.

You will liaise with farmers, participate in farm visits, and coordinate deliveries while ensuring quality, welfare and regulatory compliance. The position offers a competitive salary dependent on experience.

Qualifications

• Experience in livestock or agricultural sector.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• Commercial awareness and interest in livestock procurement.

Responsibilities

• Procure cattle and sheep from livestock suppliers via farm visits and direct communication.
• Ensure sufficient livestock is sourced to meet weekly production requirements.
• Negotiate commercially to obtain best value.
• Build and maintain long-term relationships with farmers and suppliers.
• Coordinate livestock deliveries with farmers, agents and hauliers.
• Ensure compliance with farm assurance requirements and welfare standards.
• Monitor market conditions and provide procurement advice to management.
• Attend industry events and represent the company.
