Description

As a Litigation Paralegal you will play a vital role within our Recoveries department by assisting in the management and progression of possession claims through the County Court. You will ensure that clients, represented by Flint Bishop, receive proactive, consistent, and efficient levels of service. The role is full time, Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours per week at our office in Leeds. Reporting to the Litigation Team Manager and overall to the Head of Recoveries.

Key Responsibilities
  • Handle own caseload of files from initial instruction through to obtaining possession or closing the file.
  • Creation of matters on the case management system.
  • Obtain documents from the Land Registry and other sources, and check that it is appropriate to commence possession proceedings.
  • Issue possession proceedings both via PCOL and manually.
  • Prepare electronic bundles, witness statements and agents’ instructions for possession hearings.
  • Process agents’ reports and court orders.
  • Enforce possession orders and liaise with third‑party agents to attend evictions.
  • Confirm that possession of properties has been obtained for clients and other parties.
  • Deal with applications such as suspending warrants for possession, leave to enforce possession orders, leave to re‑instate adjourned possession claims, and other miscellaneous applications as required.
  • Identify cases that have or are likely to become non‑standard and inform the Team Manager.
  • Deal with incoming telephone calls and correspondence from borrowers and their representatives, and seek to rehabilitate and avoid possession wherever possible.
  • Make outbound telephone calls to borrowers, clients and other parties.
  • Follow call models prescribed by our lender clients or the Department.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory (FCA MCOB) and legislative (CPR) requirements at all times.
  • Work to service standards agreed with our lender clients.
  • Update client systems to reflect the activities performed.
  • Assist with client reporting and management information.
  • Deal wherever possible with routine client inquiries and communications.
  • Identify areas that may benefit from improvement and communicate them to the Team Manager.
  • Provide guidance, feedback and training to trainees where required, passing queries you are unsure of to the Team Manager for guidance.
