Job summary

Candidate Source is seeking an experienced Litigation Associate for a Bermuda law firm to join its Dispute Resolution team in Hamilton. You will run your own matters and work with senior attorneys on a broad commercial disputes caseload, including cross-border matters in a tax-friendly environment.

Key requirements include at least 3 years PQE, a Commonwealth designation, proven advocacy, and strong writing and research skills.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years' PQE with a track record in commercial litigation.
• Qualified with Commonwealth designation (England & Wales, Australia, Canada, South Africa, New Zealand, Ireland or similar).
• Proven advocacy experience and ability to conduct litigation to a high standard in court.
• Solid general commercial litigation experience is essential.
• Strong research and opinion writing skills.
• Confident, courteous communication with clients, lawyers and colleagues.
• Ability to manage a busy caseload with several live matters.
• Discretion and sound judgement.
• Flexibility to work outside normal hours when required.
• Experience in debt recovery and enforcement; banking enforcement welcome. Interest in business development is a plus.

What you'll be doing as a Litigation Associate

• Running commercial litigation from instruction through to hearing, appearing at various levels of court, producing legal research and written opinions, then dealing directly with local and international clients.

What we're looking for in a Litigation Associate

• At least 3 years' post-qualification experience
• A recognised Commonwealth designation (England and Wales, Australia, Canada, South Africa, New Zealand, Ireland or similar)
• Proven advocacy, with a track record of conducting litigation to a high standard in court
• Solid general commercial litigation experience, which is essential
• Strong legal research and opinion writing
• Confident, courteous communication with clients, lawyers and colleagues
• The organisation to carry a busy caseload and several live matters at once
• Discretion and sound judgement
• Flexibility to work outside normal hours when a matter demands it
• Experience in debt recovery and enforcement, contentious estates, landlord and tenant or banking enforcement is particularly welcome. An interest in business development is an advantage.
