Job summary

SER Limited in Reading is seeking a Service Technician to join our specialist technical operations team. The role focuses on repair, servicing and maintenance of professional lighting equipment used in hire inventory.

You will diagnose faults across electrical and electronic systems, perform preventative maintenance, manage stock and coordinate with the Warehouse Operations Manager. Monday–Friday, 8:30am–5:00pm with optional overtime; £35,000-£45,000 with 25 days holiday and pension.

Qualifications

• Strong experience in repair and maintenance of electrical and electronic equipment.
• Excellent fault-finding, diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
• Meticulous, methodical approach with high attention to detail.
• Good IT skills and ability to use stock control or rental inventory systems.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, troubleshoot and repair professional lighting equipment, including mechanical, electrical and electronic faults.
• Carry out ongoing servicing and preventative maintenance to keep equipment in excellent condition.
• Maintain hire inventory to high standards to maximise availability and reliability.
• Manage equipment repairs to meet timescales and procedures.
• Oversee PAT testing and Electrical Equipment compliance.
• Identify spare parts and request stock as needed.
• Submit warranty claims and coordinate external repairs when required.
• Collaborate with the Warehouse Operations Manager and team on workloads and deadlines.
• Provide technical guidance and training to junior staff.
• Maintain a clean, organised and safe working environment.
• Assist with stock-checking and inventory additions.
