Job description

Our client is an internationally recognised specialist in architectural lighting design and manufacture. Since the early 80's the company has been transforming luxury homes, hotels, landscapes and super yachts. With headquarters in London and studios worldwide, the company combine innovative product design with award-winning creative expertise and is known for developing discreet, high-performance luminaires and delivering bespoke lighting schemes that balance technical excellence with artistic impact.

What You'll Do
  • Produce accurate lighting layouts for tender and construction using AutoCAD.
  • Write clear lighting specifications and control schedules tailored to project needs.
  • Develop engaging client presentations with sketches, visuals, renders, and mood imagery.
  • Collaborate with architects, interior designers, and M&E consultants to integrate lighting into wider project plans.
  • Present concepts and detailed designs in meetings and online reviews.
  • Attend and sometimes lead design sessions, site visits, and surveys.
  • Test and refine lighting solutions through on-site mock-ups.
  • Work with contractors during installation and provide technical guidance when required.
  • Oversee commissioning once projects are complete, which may involve occasional evening work.
  • Keep up to date with emerging products, techniques, and industry innovations.
  • Ensure all work reflects the company's reputation for design excellence and technical quality.
  • Understand and apply relevant regulations, best practice guidance, and product knowledge.
  • Prepare and present fee proposals with confidence.
  • Share feedback with R&D teams to support product innovation.
  • Work closely with sales, coordination, and technical colleagues to ensure smooth project delivery.
  • Contribute to CPD sessions, internal workshops, and knowledge-sharing events.
Position Requirements
  • A degree or diploma in Lighting Design, Architecture, Interior Design, or a similar discipline would be highly advantageous.
  • At least two years' professional experience in the lighting sector, preferably within high-end residential or hospitality projects.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage client relationships and take responsibility for project delivery.
Skills and Attributes
  • Solid technical understanding of lighting, including luminaires, drivers, control systems, colour rendering, colour temperature, and related principles.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Photoshop, and Microsoft Office; knowledge of CRM tools would be an advantage.
  • DIALux skills welcome but not essential.
  • Confident communicator who is comfortable presenting in luxury design settings.
  • Commercially aware, numerate, and attentive to detail.
  • Strong organisational ability with the capacity to juggle multiple live projects.
  • Enthusiastic about technical detail and capable of absorbing complex information.
  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills, with a collaborative mindset.
