Job summary

West Midlands Metro is seeking an organised, analytical Light Rail Fleet Planner to maximise fleet availability and ensure a safe, reliable tram network. You will own long-term maintenance planning, recovery programmes and resource forecasting across the modern tram fleet.

Work with Engineering, Production, Operations and Supply Chain to provide a clear picture of fleet availability, balancing depot capacity, parts, and supplier lead times to keep services running smoothly.

Qualifications

• Significant planning experience in rail/transport or asset-intensive industries.
• Experience creating long-term maintenance and resource plans.
• Experience coordinating recovery programmes and complex dependencies.
• Qualification in planning, project or asset management.

Responsibilities

• Create and maintain a 52-week rolling tram fleet availability forecast.
• Develop annual maintenance plans and schedules with cross-functional teams.
• Balance depot capacity, workloads and supplier lead times.
• Produce regular fleet performance and availability reports.
• Identify risks early and recommend actions to keep plans on track.
