LIGHT MACHINE SHOP MANAGER
Job overview: To manage all aspects of the Light Machine Shop (BTech), including responsibility for order intake, customer service, external customer development, administration, resource deployment and Health and Safety.

JOB DESCRIPTION
To manage all aspects of the Light Machine Shop (BTech), including responsibility for order intake, customer service, external customer development, administration, resource deployment and Health and Safety.
RESPONSIBILITIES / DUTIES
- Lead the BTech business unit.
- Maintain a safe working environment.
- Meet agreed order intake and profit margin targets.
- Meet required quality standards.
- Manage work scheduling and resourcing.
- Attend to administrative requirements of the business unit.
- Actively assist with implementation and maintenance of an ISO 9000 Quality Management System.
- Manage team timekeeping/attendance and disciplinary matters.
- Produce quotations for internal and external customers.
- Manage customers, including meeting delivery, quality and PR standards.
- Maintain growth and profitability of the business unit.
- Ensure that equipment is safe, well maintained and capable.
- Maintain an effective team, able to remain functional during normal team absences.
- Any ad‑hoc duties commensurate to the role.
QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS
Essential
- Minimum of 5 years experience in machine shop environments.
- Full understanding of machine tool functions, capabilities and applications (including CNC).
- Ability to interpret drawings and specifications.
- Good interpersonal skills.
- Understanding of profitability and general business management.
- Ability to communicate clearly.
Desirable
- Minimum 2 years experience in a similar job role.
- General IT skills.
- Determined, adaptable and pro‑active.
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
Salary: £48 k – £52 k (DOE)
Working hours: Monday – Thursday (37 hours)
Friday off every week!!
