Job summary

Marmon Lift Recruitment is recruiting a Lift Service Engineer to cover a compact Portsmouth–Southampton service route, carrying out maintenance and repair on hydraulic passenger and goods lifts. You will diagnose faults, complete repairs where possible, and participate in a 1-in-4 standby rota with rare call-outs.

The role offers a basic salary around £45,000–£50,000 per year, with paid travel time, overtime, a company vehicle, pension, and career development opportunities.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3 in Lift Engineering or equivalent preferred.
• Strong hydraulic lift experience across passenger and goods lifts.
• Ability to diagnose hydraulic, electrical and mechanical faults.
• Capable of working independently across multiple lift systems.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned preventative maintenance across a portfolio of lifts on the Portsmouth–Southampton route.
• Service and maintain hydraulic lift equipment.
• Diagnose mechanical, electrical and hydraulic faults accurately and safely.
• Complete minor repairs during service visits where possible.
• Attend breakdowns and restore equipment to service.
• Participate in a 1-in-4 standby rota with rare out-of-hours call-outs.
• Document service reports clearly for customers and the service team.
• Ensure compliance with current lift regulations and company procedures.

Marmon Lift Recruitment is currently seeking an experienced Lift Service Engineer to join an established independent lift company, covering a compact service route between Portsmouth and Southampton.
This is an excellent opportunity for a capable engineer with strong hydraulic lift experience to join a longstanding business with a loyal team and a reputation for high-quality servicing and repairs. The position offers an attractive basic salary, additional paid travel and overtime, and a manageable 1-in-4 call-out rota.
Locations Considered: Portsmouth, Southampton, Fareham, Gosport, Havant, Waterlooville, Eastleigh and surrounding areas.

The Lift Engineer Role

• Carry out planned preventative maintenance across a portfolio of passenger and goods lifts.
• Service and maintain hydraulic lift equipment throughout the Portsmouth-to-Southampton route.
• Diagnose mechanical, electrical and hydraulic faults accurately.
• Complete minor repairs and adjustments during service visits where possible.
• Attend breakdowns and restore equipment to service safely and efficiently.
• Participate in a 1-in-4 standby rota, with out-of-hours call-outs typically rare.
• Identify worn or defective components and report additional repair requirements.
• Work across lift equipment from a variety of manufacturers.
• Ensure all work complies with current lift regulations, safety standards and company procedures.
• Complete service documentation accurately and provide clear updates to customers and the service team.
• Strong experience servicing, maintaining and repairing hydraulic lifts.
• Previous experience working on passenger and goods lift equipment.
• NVQ Level 3 in Lift Engineering, or an equivalent qualification, is preferred.
• Strong hydraulic, mechanical and electrical fault-finding abilities.
• Confident working independently across different lift systems and manufacturers.
• Able to manage a local service route and workload effectively.
• Willing to participate in a 1-in-4 standby and call-out rota.
• Professional communication skills when working on customer sites.
• A full UK driving licence is essential.
