Job summary

Virgin Active is seeking a Lifeguard to join our Operations Team. This role focuses on creating a safe, welcoming environment for members, ensuring poolside safety, cleanliness and exceptional service.

You will work part time (20 hours) with duties including safety checks, water chemistry monitoring, and duty shifts. Requires current Lifeguard qualification and registration (RLSS, STA, or equivalent).

Qualifications

• Must have a current Lifeguard qualification and be fully registered.
• Qualifications can be RLSS National Pool, HABC Level 2 Award in Pool Lifeguarding (RQF) or STA Professional Award (RQF).

Responsibilities

• Ensure poolside safety and high standards of cleanliness and member experience.
• Conduct safety checks and record them accurately.
• Monitor water chemical levels and maintain pool and spa areas.
• Fulfill duty shifts and manage staff and facilities as required.

In this role, you will play a vital role in creating a safe, welcoming and enjoyable environment for our members, ensuring the highest standards of poolside safety, cleanliness and member experience. You will act as a trusted ambassador for the club, responding confidently to situations, maintaining operational excellence and delivering exceptional service every day.

The Role

• Incorporating a friendly, calm and approachable nature with the ability to act quickly and effectively at all times.
• Ensuring the upmost safety of our members in the pool and spa areas, taking responsibility for your own personal safety and that of others.
• Consistently acting in a safe manner, knowing the importance of completing safety checks and recording them accurately.
• Monitoring water chemical water levels and cleaning the water when appropriate.
• Maintaining the cleanliness of all areas and adhere to the high standards of Virgin Active .
• Responsibility for compliance with all mandatory training and health and safety.
• Fulfilling Duty Shifts when required, therefore having responsibility and accountability during the shift, controlling staffing and facility issues throughout the club.

Who We’re Looking For

• You have a current Lifeguard qualification and be fully registered, with either a IQL National Pool Qualification (RLSS), HABC Level 2 Award in Pool Lifeguarding (RQF) or STA Professional Award for Pool Lifeguard (RQF) qualification.
