Job summary

Virgin Active & KAUAI in Northampton is seeking a Lifeguard to join our Operations Team. You will help create a safe, welcoming poolside environment, upholding high safety and cleanliness standards while delivering exceptional member service.

You must hold a current Lifeguard qualification (RLSS, HABC Level 2, or STA) and be fully registered. The role is 40 hours per week with competitive pay and extensive perks.

Qualifications

• You must have a current Lifeguard qualification and be fully registered, with RLSS, HABC Level 2 Award in Pool Lifeguarding (RQF) or STA Professional Award for Pool Lifeguard (RQF).
• Strong customer focus and ability to respond calmly in emergencies.
• Commitment to health and safety and operating procedures.

Responsibilities

• Maintain poolside safety and high cleanliness standards.
• Respond confidently to incidents and communicate clearly with members.
• Record safety checks accurately and complete required training.
• Monitor water chemistry and assist with pool maintenance.
• Support duty shifts and manage club facilities under supervision.

In this role, you will play a vital role in creating a safe, welcoming and enjoyable environment for our members, ensuring the highest standards of poolside safety, cleanliness and member experience. You will act as a trusted ambassador for the club, responding confidently to situations, maintaining operational excellence and delivering exceptional service every day.

The Role

• Incorporating a friendly, calm and approachable nature with the ability to act quickly and effectively at all times.
• Ensuring the upmost safety of our members in the pool and spa areas, taking responsibility for your own personal safety and that of others.
• Consistently acting in a safe manner, knowing the importance of completing safety checks and recording them accurately.
• Monitoring water chemical water levels and cleaning the water when appropriate.
• Maintaining the cleanliness of all areas and adhere to the high standards of Virgin Active .
• Responsibility for compliance with all mandatory training and health and safety.
• Fulfilling Duty Shifts when required, therefore having responsibility and accountability during the shift, controlling staffing and facility issues throughout the club.

Who We’re Looking For

• You have a current Lifeguard qualification and be fully registered, with either a IQL National Pool Qualification (RLSS), HABC Level 2 Award in Pool Lifeguarding (RQF) or STA Professional Award for Pool Lifeguard (RQF) qualification.
