A local government council in Airdrie is seeking a part-time Library Assistant to provide modern library services. Responsibilities include delivering children's activities, supporting IT access, and operating library management systems. We are looking for an outgoing and approachable part‑time Library Assistant to join the team in providing a modern library service to the community. Duties include delivering children’s activities such as Bookbug sessions, Chatterbooks, reader development activities, supporting public access to IT, general front line customer services and operating the library management systems.
Deliver children’s activities and reader development sessions.
Support public access to IT and general front line customer services.
Operate library management systems.
Good interpersonal skills and relevant customer service experience working with a wide range of customers.
Good IT skills and ability to lift and carry stock.
Interest in books and reading.
Mobile within North Lanarkshire and able to travel to other work locations.
Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme membership through Disclosure Scotland and a satisfactory check before commencing.
27 days annual leave and 6 public holidays*.

*For all casual/sessional roles, you will receive 12.1% of your hourly rate for every hour worked in total recompense for annual leave, including public holidays. These rates will be indicated separately on your payslip. You will only be paid for the hours that you work.
