Job description
Opening

We have an exciting opportunity for two committed and motivated Library Assistants to join our friendly teams at CCW on a full‑time, fixed‑term basis. One role will be based at Camberwell College of Arts library and the other at Chelsea College of Arts library.

Responsibilities
  • Assist users with initial information enquiries in person and online using our live chat service ASK, including support for the use of library materials, account queries and general purpose software.
  • Provide support for self‑issue systems, IT and printing.
  • Participate in stock‑related duties such as retrieving and circulating items.
  • Help maintain and care for collections as needed.
  • Assist with the production of promotional material and instructional guides to encourage students’ independent learning.
  • Keep the library in good order in accordance with best health and safety practice and security guidelines.
Working Hours

The role is 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 7 hours per day. Normal working hours will be between 9.00 am to 6.00 pm, with potential requirements to work during core hours of 8.30 am to 8.30 pm. You may be scheduled for a variety of start times (e.g., 9 am or 6 pm) each week.

Profile

We are looking for someone with a compassionate and student‑centred approach, flexible and adaptable to changing service needs, and a strong ability to collaborate. Strong communication and written skills, good IT skills including Microsoft Office, and a positive, responsive customer service attitude are essential.

Qualifications

Relevant library or customer service experience and formal training to post 16 level are required. Knowledge and experience within a higher education institution is desirable but not essential.
