Libraries, Resources & Study Skills Assistant

Location: Bedford College - Cauldwell Street Campus

Contract: Permanent - Term Time

Hours: 30 hours per week – 38 weeks per year

Salary: £23,557 – £26,754 per annum (Pro‑Rata) DOE

Right to work: Must have Right to Work in the UK; no sponsorship available.

About the role

Deliver study skills sessions, support library services, enhance student engagement, collaborate across curriculum, and uphold safeguarding, EDI and health & safety standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support Student Learning – deliver study skills sessions, inductions and training on research and digital tools.
  • Manage Library Services – operate the Library Management System, handle lending and reservations, maintain resources.
  • Enhance Student Engagement – promote library services through creative displays and activities.
  • Collaborate & Assist – work closely with curriculum staff, support volunteers, assist events, exam invigilation and travel to other campuses.
  • Uphold Standards & Compliance – ensure safeguarding, EDI, health & safety requirements are met.
Essential Qualifications & Knowledge
  • GCSE Maths & English (A‑C or equivalent).
  • Experience delivering lessons or training.
  • Demonstrable understanding of Equality & Diversity.
Core Competencies & Attributes
  • Excellent IT skills (Windows, internet research, Microsoft Office).
  • Strong behaviour management, customer support, communication skills.
  • Creative, innovative, patient, supportive, respectful, calm under pressure.
  • Willingness to work evenings/weekends, travel across sites.
