Job summary

Royal Preston Hospital in Lancashire seeks a substantive consultant psychiatrist to join the Mental Health & Liaison Team. The post holder has no inpatient responsibility but acts as responsible clinician for one or two patients detained in Lancashire teaching hospitals at any one time.

The team provides all-ages assessment across A&E and wards at Preston and Chorley. The full-time 10 PA role includes paid on-call duties, with Section 12 approval and GMC registration or eligibility within six

Qualifications

• MBBS or equivalent required.
• Full GMC registration and licence to practise.
• Inclusion on the GMC Specialist Register, or eligibility within 6 months of interview.
• Section 12 approval at start of employment.
• Approved Clinician status, or eligibility within 6 months of interview.

Responsibilities

• Act as responsible clinician for patients detained under the Mental Health Act in Lancashire teaching hospitals.
• Provide rapid all-ages assessment for patients in A&E and on medical and surgical wards.
• Take part in the Consultant On Call rota with additional pay.
