Responsibilities

  • Communicate with insurers, policyholders, and brokers.
  • Handle allocated claims, refer to a field adjuster for on-site investigation when necessary.
  • Obtain all relevant evidence and documentation.
  • Determine appropriate actions to resolve each case.
  • Prepare detailed reports on policy indemnity and legal liability.
  • Negotiate settlements within agreed authority limits.
  • Maintain proactive communication with all parties.
  • Handle cases according to documented procedures.
  • Regularly review and maintain proper reserves.
  • Stay updated on technical changes and participate in training programs.

Liability Claims Handler - Property

Department: Claims Management

Employment Type: Permanent - Full Time

Location: Glasgow

Description

Hours: Full-Time, 35 hours per week Monday - Friday. Location: Glasgow. Successful applicants will be required to attend one of our offices once a week.

Our Opportunity:
Davies is on the lookout for an experienced Claims Handler to enhance our growing Casualty team. This role offers a stimulating and supportive environment where the selected individual will be joining a dedicated team, providing a first-class proactive claims handling service to major clients.

What will your day look like:
  • Liaison: Communicate with insurers, policyholders, and brokers.
  • Investigation: Handle allocated claims, either from your desk or by referring them to a field adjuster for on-site investigation when necessary.
  • Evidence Gathering: Obtain all relevant evidence and documentation.
  • Resolution: Determine appropriate actions to resolve each case.
  • Reporting: Prepare detailed reports, advising on policy indemnity, legal liability, quantum, and tactics as needed.
  • Negotiation: Negotiate settlements within agreed authority limits.
  • Professional Correspondence: Maintain proactive communication with all parties involved.
  • Adherence to Procedures: Handle cases according to documented procedures and client requirements.
  • Reserve Management: Regularly review and maintain proper reserves.
  • Continuous Learning: Stay updated on technical changes relevant to your role, including participating in company facilitated training programs.
