Job summary

Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) is seeking a trainer for LGV Examiners to deliver quality learning and create a supportive environment that helps delegates reach their full potential. The role focuses on recognising learning styles, providing feedback, and applying standards in all learning activities.

You will work to DVSA L&D standards and collaborate with the broader People & Places Directorate to ensure high-quality delivery and continuous development, including liaising with

• Ensure smooth handover to the business to enable ongoing development.
• Collaborate with L&D and People & Places Directorate colleagues to drive the division vision.
• Engage with external delivery partners as required in line with DVSA standards.

Salary: £30,485 (An allowance of £5,000 per year is payable, once you are fully qualified as a trainer)

You will deliver quality learning to new LGV Examiners, creating a nurturing environment for delegates to reach their full potential by recognising learning styles, providing support and feedback.

• Delivering learning products that meet Learning & Development (L&D) standards, policy, Quality Assurance processes, corporate and regulatory requirements.


• Upkeeping the integrity and quality of learning products in alignment with L&D standards and policy.


• Ensuring accurate completion of handover to the business to enable continuous development where relevant.


• Collaborating with L&D and wider People & Places Directorate colleagues to foster a team ethos to bring L&D and the People & Places Directorate vision to life.


• Interacting with external delivery partners as required in alignment with DVSA and L&D standards.

About You

To be successful in this role you will need to have the following:

• Consistently drive to a high standard and understand what safe, legal and responsible driving looks like


• Knowledge and experience of training methods, learning techniques and classroom presentations


• Experience in tailoring communication to suit individual needs, using different communication methods where appropriate


• Strong organisational and time management skills as a team and independent working


• Experience working as part of a dispersed team


• Experience in coaching and/or mentoring

Qualifications

You must have held full Category C UK or EU licence continuously for the last 3 years and must have no more than 3 penalty points.

You will be required to provide evidence that you hold any essential qualifications/licenses at some point during the recruitment process. If you cannot provide evidence, your application will be withdrawn.

If you do not already hold the qualifications below, you will be expected to work towards them once in post as part of your training:

• Authorised by the Secretary of State to conduct the official Category C Driving Test (Examiner Warrant Card).
