Job summary

Freightliner Group Ltd is seeking an LGV Driver to join our UK intermodal logistics team. You will perform roadworthy checks, drive with care on terminal and public roads, and ensure load safety while delivering containers to designated points.

Occasional nights away may be required, with a Night out allowance. You will maintain tachographs, follow the Drivers Rulebook, and uphold Freightliner’s safety and grooming standards.

Responsibilities

• Undertake roadworthy checks of vehicles and trailers as per the rulebook.
• Drive with due care and attention on the terminal or public highway.
• Ensure the safety of the load and vehicle at all times.
• Promptly collect/deliver containers to the designated point.
• Submit details of any damage to company or customer property.
• Advise Road Services Office of delays to recover costs.
• Maintain tachograph discs and relevant logs as required by law.
• Project a professional company image; follow grooming policy.
• Complete non-traditional Freightliner work using various trailer types.
• Rope and sheet loads to required loading standards.
• Keep assigned vehicle clean, tidy and odour-free; no unauthorised adornments.
• Occasional nights away from home; Night out allowance paid.
• Attend mandatory/vocational training as required.
• Perform other duties as directed by line manager.

Through innovation, safety and sustainability, Freightliner delivers reliable, efficient and lower-carbon supply chain solutions for its customers.In the UK the Freightliner Group operates under a number of legal entities including, Freightliner Ltd, Pentalver Transport Ltd, and Pentalver Cannock Ltd.LGV DriverResponsible to: Transport Manager / Road Operations ControllerSAFETY RESPONSIBILITIESCompliance with Local Working InstructionsCompliance with Drivers RulebookDUTIES:Undertake all roadworthy checks of Vehicles and Trailers as contained within the Rulebook for Motor Drivers.In accordance with Company policy ensure that vehicles are driven with due care and attention when in the Terminal or on the Public Highway ensuring that by means of correct driving the maximum possible economy is achieved.Responsible for the safety of the load and the vehicle at all times and ensuring that where parked off site, the necessary security/safety requirements are met.Responsible for the prompt collection/delivery of containers to the designated point.Responsible for the prompt submission of all relevant details regarding damage to Company property or customers property or of accidents involving the general public in accordance with the Drivers Rulebook.6. Responsible for the prompt advice to the Road Services Office if delays occur during the loading/unloading of containers in order that associated costs of delays can be forwarded to the Customer.7. Responsible for all collection/delivery documentation ensuring that relevant signatures/Company stamp are clearly marked including your time in and time out are properly recoded.undefined8.
