This role is in support of Cencora's wholesale distribution services in Europe operating through our Alliance Healthcare business. We are looking for an experienced Class 2 LGV driver, who will work from our site in Basingstoke. The job role is to ensure the speedy, efficient and accurate delivery of assembled products and invoices to the customer within corporate guidelines.
Responsibilities
- Maintain a safe and competent standard of driving, observing speed limits and traffic signs, and giving due regard to other road users.
- Perform a daily vehicle check to ensure roadworthiness, including lights, brakes, coolant, etc.
- Report any faults, breakdowns, accidents or delays.
- Abide by all tachograph laws and ensure daily/weekly rests are taken as required.
- Ensure all Proof of Deliveries listed on drop sheets have been delivered to customers and report shortages.
- Collect goods returned from external customers upon receipt of collection request.
- Maintain the cleanliness of the vehicle and its interior.
- Ensure sufficient quantities of fuel for the day's work.
- Maintain security of the vehicle and its contents at all times.
- Check all orders shown on the drop sheets and ensure all orders are loaded correctly.
- Log trailer seal numbers before departure and before opening at the service centre or external customer.
- Deal promptly and correctly with damages/breakages, following procedures for HazChems.
- Maintain a smart appearance at all times.
- Help maintain good customer relations.
- Maintain good communication with transport staff; may be involved in other duties as defined by Management.
- Meet all Health & Safety requirements.
- Perform manual handling tasks such as lifting and bending (essential requirement).
- Apply for a DPA police check if successful at interview.
- Act on own initiative and work unsupervised.
- Monitor the condition of own vehicle and report serious faults or damages that may render the vehicle unsafe.
Qualifications & Skills
- Minimum 2 years of Class 2 LGV driving experience.
- Excellent customer care and communication skills, with the ability to work independently.
- Smart appearance, strong interpersonal skills, flexible approach to work.
- Intermediate numeracy and literacy skills.
- Full driving licence relevant to the vehicle being driven.
- Existing employees must update fleet services for licence status changes.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Previous experience of multi‑drop delivery driving is highly desirable.
- Route planning experience.
- Existing employees or new hires must be able to perform manual handling tasks; no reasonable adjustments will be made if unable.
