A community support organization in Leeds is seeking a passionate Group Leader to coordinate activities for learning-disabled and autistic LGBTQ+ adults. The role involves planning inclusive sessions, leading a small team, and ensuring member safety. Ideal candidates will have experience in advocacy or community projects, emphasizing communication and organisational skills. Location: Leeds city centre (meeting point: The Light, Headrow)
Hours: 3.5 hours per week – 2.5 hours delivery on Tuesdays (6:30pm–9pm) + 1 flexible hour for planning and monitoring
Contract: Fixed-term, 3 years (until July 2028)
Salary: £13.21 per hour
Holidays: 6 sessions pro rata (inclusive of statutory and bank holidays)
The OUT in Leeds group originally ran from 2018 to 2024 and filled a vital gap in local support. Its return will restore a safe and inclusive space for learning-disabled and autistic LGBTQ+ adults to connect, learn, and thrive.
The group will be delivered weekly in Leeds city centre by a small, dedicated team – one Group Leader and two Group Support Workers – offering a mix of social, creative, and educational activities shaped by members themselves.
As Group Leader, you’ll plan and deliver an engaging programme of activities that support wellbeing, confidence, and inclusion. You’ll lead a small team of staff and volunteers, ensuring sessions are safe, accessible, and empowering for all members.
