Job summary

The Hive College is part of Education Impact Academy Trust and is based in Erdington, Birmingham. The Trust seeks a Level 3 Teaching Assistant to join the team and support learners aged 19-25 with special educational needs and disabilities.

The role involves mentoring, pastoral support and assisting with some physical care as needed, to help students access the curriculum and develop independence. A GCSE in English and Maths at grade C or above is required.

Qualifications

• GCSE English and Maths at grade C or above or equivalent.
• Excellent communication and written skills with high expectations of learning and behaviour.
• Ability to support teachers and mentor students, including pastoral care and some physical care when required.

Responsibilities

• Support teachers in meeting the needs of all students, including mentoring and pastoral care.
• Work with individuals and small groups of students.
• Support students in the classroom and in community activities.
• Contribute to a positive learning environment and high standards of behaviour.

Education Impact Academy Trust is a MAT incorporating The Hive College, Wilson Stuart School, Queensbury School and Mayfield School. The Hive College is based in Erdington, Birmingham and is a Specialist Further Education College for learners aged 19-25 years with Special Educational Needs and disabilities. The successful candidate will demonstrate:

• A minimum GCSE English and Maths Grade C and above (or equivalent).
• A good understanding of how students learn and develop in education.
• The ability to support teachers in meeting the needs of all students, including mentoring, pastoral care and assisting with the physical care of students as and when required.
• The ability to work with individuals and small groups of students.
• Excellent communication and written skills with high expectations of learning and behaviour.
• The ability to support students in the classroom and whilst out in the community.
