Job summary

Protocol Education are seeking a Level 3 Teaching Assistant to support pupils with physical and medical needs in Gateshead. You will use assistive technology and accessible ICT to help learners access education, adapting activities to individual plans and assisting with specialist equipment.

Ideal candidates hold a Level 3 TA qualification, have SEND experience, strong ICT skills, and a commitment to flexible, proactive support across environments.

Qualifications

• Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent.
• Experience within SEND or specialist education.
• Experience supporting physical and/or medical needs.
• Good ICT skills and confidence using technology.
• Willingness to learn specialist knowledge.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
• Good organisational skills.
• Flexibility to work across environments.
• Full, clean driving licence and access to a vehicle.

Responsibilities

• Support pupils with physical and medical needs.
• Assist with classroom activities and personalised learning.
• Adapt activities and resources where necessary.
• Encourage independence and participation.
• Support pupils with assistive technology.
• Prepare and check specialist equipment.
• Support alternative communication systems.
• Help maintain accessible ICT.
• Troubleshoot basic technology and equipment issues.
• Support safe movement and positioning.

• Communicate effectively with teachers and other professionals.
• Monitor pupils and provide clear feedback.
