Leisure Manager – The Grove & The Hangar Health & Fitness
About the Role

We are seeking a dynamic and people-oriented Leisure Manager to oversee operations at two prominent community fitness facilities—The Grove Health & Fitness and The Hangar Health & Fitness. This position is suited for an experienced leisure professional with a strong commitment to fostering community wellbeing, delivering outstanding customer service, and developing high-performing teams. The successful candidate will be responsible for daily site operations, driving commercial objectives, providing effective leadership to the fitness team, and ensuring the delivery of safe, engaging, and inclusive leisure services to both members and the wider community.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead, mentor, and develop teams across both sites to cultivate a positive and motivated workforce
  • Ensure exceptional member experiences and maintain robust stakeholder relationships
  • Oversee all daily operational aspects, ensuring adherence to safety, compliance, and building management standards
  • Drive membership acquisition, retention, and overall commercial performance
  • Implement innovative fitness programmes, group exercise classes, and wellbeing initiatives
  • Manage budgets, reporting, marketing activities, and key performance indicators
  • Support community engagement initiatives and partnership development
  • Collaborate with colleagues across LED to ensure continuous improvement in services
  • Provide evening and weekend management cover as required
Candidate Profile
Essential Skills and Experience
  • Demonstrable experience in leadership and management within the leisure or fitness sector
  • Outstanding customer service and communication abilities
  • Proven expertise in managing budgets, financial processes, and achieving KPIs
  • Strong knowledge of Health & Safety and compliance regulations
  • Track record in membership sales, marketing, and operational management
Qualifications
  • Degree or NVQ Level 5 in Leisure Management (or equivalent)
  • Level 2 Fitness qualification (or willingness to obtain)
  • Level 3 Personal Trainer qualification
  • First Aid and Health & Safety certifications (or willingness to obtain)
