A local government authority in the United Kingdom is seeking to hire 3 full-time permanent Leisure Assistants at the Allander Leisure Centre. Role involves cleaning, control of facilities, and requires a valid RLSS National Pool Lifeguard Qualification. Candidates should be willing to work outside normal hours. This position also includes a PVG/Disclosure Scotland check.
As of 1st April 2011 East Dunbartonshire Leisure & Culture Trust was formed to deliver Leisure and Cultural services on behalf of East Dunbartonshire Council. East Dunbartonshire is home to three popular leisure centres – the Leisuredrome in Bishopbriggs, the Allander Leisure Centre in Bearsden and Kirkintilloch Leisure Centre.
Due to further expansion and development of these leisure services, we are looking to recruit the following position to complement our existing staffing across East Dunbartonshire Leisure & Culture Trust.
3x Full time Permanent Leisure Assistant
Allander Leisure Centre
To undertake a range of duties in wet, dry and other areas which will include cleaning, control of facilities and assembling and dismantling of equipment. Applicants must possess a current RLSS National Pool Lifeguard Qualification.

The post holder will be required to work outside normal hours, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays. Disclosure Scotland checks will apply.

The following criteria applies to all roles within East Dunbartonshire Council where PVG/Disclosure checks are essential criteria.
Where the post you are applying for is considered a Regulated Role under the Disclosure (Scotland) Act 2020, successful candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme, or undergo a PVG Scheme Update check, prior to confirmation of employment being made by East Dunbartonshire Council.
Please note, successful candidates will be expected to meet the cost of the relevant check which will be deducted from the successful candidate’s first salary payment. Successful candidates who withdraw their application after the check process has started will be invoiced for the cost of the check.
In specific circumstances the payment could be deducted in instalments from an employee’s wages following commencement of employment. Approval in such circumstances will be made by the HR &OD Manager.
Should an employee leave in advance of the payment being deducted, the full amount will be deducted from the employee’s final salary.
The criteria outlined above will apply to existing employees of East Dunbartonshire Council who apply for roles for which a PVG/Disclosure check is required.
