The Job

We are seeking an organised and highly efficient Legal Secretary who can provide first‑class administrative and secretarial support to fee earners. The role requires someone with strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to manage a varied workload within a busy legal environment. Previous experience within conveyancing or wills and probate would be highly advantageous. Responsibilities include preparing legal documents, audiotyping, managing diaries, maintaining accurate case files, liaising with clients and third parties, and supporting the smooth progression of matters from initial instruction through to completion. The ideal candidate will be confident, adaptable, and motivated to deliver consistently high standards of work.

The Role
  • Provide comprehensive secretarial support to Solicitors and fee earners.
  • Prepare, draft, and format legal documents with accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Manage diaries, appointments, and case‑related deadlines.
  • Conduct audio typing and digital dictation, ensuring timely turnaround of documents.
  • Handle client queries professionally, both in person and by telephone.
  • Maintain and update case files, ensuring compliance with internal procedures.
  • Liaise with clients, financial institutions, other Solicitors, and external agencies.
  • Assist in the preparation of briefs, bundles, and supporting documents.
  • Uphold confidentiality and adhere to all compliance, GDPR, and firm policies.
The Person
  • Experience working as a Legal Secretary, Legal Assistant, or within a legal support role.
  • Experience in conveyancing or wills and probate is highly advantageous.
  • Strong communication skills, with a professional and friendly manner.
  • Excellent typing speed and accuracy, with experience in digital dictation.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to prioritise effectively.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Outlook, and Excel.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and independently when required.
  • High level of discretion, professionalism, and client care.
