Job summary

A well-established law firm in Wimbledon is seeking an experienced Legal Finance Manager to oversee client and office accounts. Responsibilities include managing invoicing, reconciliations, payroll coordination, and supporting audit processes. The ideal candidate will have law firm accounts experience and knowledge of Solicitors Accounts Rules. This is a full-time, office-based role with a salary range of £35,000 - £40,000 depending on experience.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience working in a law firm accounts role.
  • Strong knowledge of VAT and Money Laundering Regulations.
  • Experience in a Lexcel-accredited firm is preferred.

Job description

A well-established firm of property solicitors based near Wimbledon is looking for an experienced Legal Finance Manager to oversee their Client and Office accounts in line with Solicitors Accounts Rules.

You’ll take responsibility for all day-to-day financial operations, including invoicing, reconciliations, VAT returns, payroll coordination and reporting. The role also includes some office management duties and involvement in wider business planning.

Salary £35,000 - £40,000 depending on experience. This is a full-time, office-based role offering stability, autonomy and the chance to be a key part of a highly regarded legal practice.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain Client, Office and firm accounts in line with Solicitors Accounts Rules and internal procedures
  • Manage invoicing and credit control processes
  • Carry out bank reconciliations and produce monthly management reports including cashflow analysis
  • Handle VAT returns and coordinate outsourced payroll
  • Support the firm's auditors with year-end accounts
  • Supervise Accounts Assistants if applicable
  • Assist with general office admin duties (e.g., stationery, equipment)
  • Keep up to date with all regulatory changes
  • Contribute to business planning and ongoing process improvements
  • Provide a high standard of client care and service
Essential Experience and Skills
  • Previous experience working in a law firm accounts role is essential
  • Strong knowledge of Solicitors Accounts Rules, VAT and Money Laundering Regulations
  • Experience working in a Lexcel-accredited firm
  • Confident using legal case management and accounting systems
  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Able to work independently with a proactive and professional attitude
  • High level of integrity and reliability
