Job description

We have an exciting opportunity to join our Legal Services Team as a Legal Expenses Insurance Claims Handler. In this role, you'll be at the heart of supporting our customers, assessing and managing claims for legal expenses insurance, and ensuring they're handled fairly, efficiently, and in line with policy terms and regulatory requirements. This is a hybrid position, giving you the flexibility to work three days from home and two days in our Bradley Stoke office.

Responsibilities
  • Review and assess claims, ensuring they meet policy criteria.
  • Refer claims to panel solicitors in line with policy terms, and decline claims where appropriate.
  • Manage customer expectations on process and timescales from first contact through to claim conclusion.
  • Review documentation and identify missing information needed to complete assessments.
  • Provide accurate policy guidance to clients, colleagues, corporate partners, and solicitors.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, solicitors, and partners to continuously improve service.
  • Ensure authorised costs and accruals are updated in line with policies to reflect risk exposure.
  • Proactively manage billing processes, reconciling data and processing payments accurately and on time.
  • Review and challenge bills where appropriate.

  • Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office.
  • Awareness of Data Protection regulations and compliance obligations.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and independently to strict deadlines.
  • Commercial awareness.
  • Experience in a regulated claims environment (minimum 6 months desirable).
  • Knowledge of legal expenses insurance products (home or motor) is desirable, but full training will be provided.
