Job description

About Wexler

Wexler is building the best AI system for litigation on the planet. We work with some of the world’s largest law firms, helping them to solve their most complex cases, find the winning strategy in each matter, and create clarity from the chaos of documents and facts in each case. We are a rapidly growing, legal AI company based in London. Clifford Chance, HSFKramer, Goodwin, Addleshaw Goddard and more rely on us to help find the critical facts that can determine their chances of winning a case.

We’re backed with a $5.3M Seed by Pear VC, Seedcamp, The LegalTechFund + many leading industry angels.

We are building a comprehensive AI platform for managing, resolving and preventing legal disputes across Enterprise law firms and Fortune500 companies. We are growing 10x YoY and signing more eminent firms every month. Our system extracts, objective, cross referenced facts from millions of documents, helping litigators win more cases whilst saving months of working hours. In this way we ensure every client gets the representation they deserve.

AI is transforming the law, but most tools have focused on contract law or are generalist copilots that aggregate the tasks lawyers do across practices. Wexler is the leading gen-AI platform specifically built for the nuances of litigation, and our growth proves the story is resonating.

About the Role

We're seeking a Legal Engineer who will work at the intersection of law and AI, building and refining Wexler's state-of-the-art fact extraction and analysis systems for litigation.

As a Legal Engineer, you will work closely with our AI team to ensure our systems meet the exacting standards of expert litigators. You'll use your legal training to identify edge cases, design rigorous evaluations, and push the boundaries of what's possible with AI in legal practice.

This role is ideal for recent law graduates who want to shape the future of legal technology rather than follow a traditional legal career path. You'll gain unique expertise at the intersection of law, AI, and startups while building systems that will transform how litigation is practiced.

Responsibilities
  • Design and build expert evaluations for our fact extraction and analysis systems

  • Work closely with our AI Researchers to systematically improve system performance on complex legal tasks

  • Identify edge cases and breaking points where LLMs struggle with expert-level litigation work

  • Develop test cases and benchmarks that reflect real-world legal challenges and requirements

  • Collaborate with Software Engineers to translate legal expertise into product requirements

  • Contribute to our understanding of how AI can and should be applied to high-stakes legal work

What You'll Learn at Wexler
  • Inside law firms: Gain an insider's perspective on how top-tier firms operate, their AI-related needs, and their technological challenges—without the traditional associate grind

  • Startup and growth equity: Understand the lifecycle of a high-growth company, fundraising mechanics, and competitive market dynamics in legal tech

  • AI transformation: See firsthand how artificial intelligence can dramatically improve legal productivity, accuracy, and profitability

  • Critical AI legal issues: Develop deep expertise in the legal frameworks surrounding AI, including IP, data privacy, algorithmic bias, and product liability

Ideal Candidate
  • Law degree (JD, LLB, or equivalent) with strong academic credentials

  • Genuine interest in litigation, fact-finding, and legal analysis

  • Intellectually curious about AI and its applications to legal practice

  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, technical environment

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Excellent written and verbal communication

  • Entrepreneurial mindset and willingness to take on diverse challenges

No prior engineering or AI experience required - just legal training, intellectual curiosity, and a desire to build something new.
