Job summary

Kingsley Green Recruitment group is partnering with an established international business to recruit a Senior Legal Counsel based in Surrey with broad UK and global responsibility. The role focuses on commercial contracts, corporate transactions and governance across multiple jurisdictions.

You will work autonomously, engage with senior stakeholders, manage cross-border projects, and help shape legal processes and training across the business.

Qualifications

• Qualified solicitor or barrister with UK admission or equivalent foreign qualification with strong UK knowledge.
• Significant in-house experience in international or multinational settings.
• Proven ability to work autonomously in a regional standalone role.

Responsibilities

• Provide senior legal support across UK and international business.
• Draft, review and negotiate commercial contracts, tenders, licensing and supplier agreements.
• Oversee corporate transactions, joint ventures and M&A activities.
• Governance, regulatory compliance, employment matters and risk assessment.
• Manage external advisers and coordinate cross-border projects.
• Develop processes, policies and training for the legal function.

Senior Legal Counsel | International Business | Surrey

Brooklands, Surrey | 4 days onsite

I’m working with an established international business on a senior legal appointment based at its Surrey office.

This is a broad, commercially focused role supporting the UK and wider international operations of a business with a significant global footprint. You’ll work closely with senior stakeholders across different regions, while also partnering with colleagues across a wider international Legal team.

The role would suit a senior commercial lawyer who enjoys working autonomously, is comfortable operating across multiple jurisdictions and wants genuine exposure to international business.

The role will cover:

• Providing senior legal support across the UK and international business
• Commercial contracts, tenders, licensing and supplier arrangements
• Corporate transactions, joint ventures and M&A
• Governance, compliance, employment and regulatory matters
• International and cross-border projects
• Managing relationships with external legal advisers
• Advising senior stakeholders on legal risk and commercial decisions
• Supporting global legal and strategic projects
• Developing legal processes, policies and training across the business
• Monitoring relevant legal and regulatory developments

The ideal candidate will have:

• UK qualification, or qualification in another jurisdiction with strong UK legal knowledge
• Significant in-house experience within an international or multinational organisation
• Strong corporate and commercial legal experience
• Proven international and cross-border experience
• Confidence operating independently in a standalone regional role
• Strong commercial judgement and a pragmatic, solutions-focused approach
• Excellent drafting, negotiation and stakeholder management skills
• Experience developing or improving legal processes and capabilities within a business
• Sector experience in energy, technology, engineering or infrastructure would be advantageous but is not essential.
