Job summary

OnPath Energy Limited seeks a UK-qualified lawyer to join its legal team supporting project developers and corporate, operations and finance teams within the renewables sector. The role covers governance, commercial and financing matters, drafting and negotiating contracts, and coordinating with external counsel to ensure regulatory compliance across the UK energy market.

Qualifications

  • Qualified in England and Wales or Scotland.
  • 1-2 years PQE minimum; energy experience preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of project development and regulatory advice for energy projects.
  • Excellent analytical, drafting, and negotiation skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build relationships across the organisation.
  • Familiarity with the UK energy market.

Responsibilities

  • Provide legal advice and support on governance, commercial, finance and corporate transactions.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate contracts including property, project development, M&A, supply and service agreements.
  • Conduct legal research on laws affecting the UK renewable energy sector.
  • Support development and implementation of corporate policies and regulatory compliance.
  • Coordinate with external legal counsel.
  • Assist in dispute resolution, including negotiation, mediation, arbitration, and litigation.
  • Participate in governance and company secretary activities including board materials and Companies House.

Job description

Our legal team provides vital resource to our project developers, and to our commercial, corporate, operations and finance teams.


Key responsibilities


  • Provide legal advice and support on a wide range of matters, including corporate governance, commercial, finance and corporate transactions, property and planning issues, regulatory compliance, employment law, and intellectual property.

  • Draft, review, and negotiate a variety of contracts, including property agreements, project development agreements, M&A documentation, supply contracts, and service agreements.

  • Conduct legal research and stay updated on relevant laws, regulations, and industry trends affecting the UK renewable energy sector.

  • Support the development and implementation of corporate policies and procedures to ensure legal and regulatory compliance.

  • Manage and coordinate with external legal counsel.

  • Assist in dispute resolution, including negotiation, mediation, arbitration, and litigation.

  • Participate in corporate governance and company secretary activities, including preparing and reviewing board materials, minutes, and resolutions and working with our document management systems and Companies House.


Qualifications


  • England and Wales or Scottish qualification.

  • Minimum 1-2 years PQE minimum – preferably with energy experience or related industries.

  • Strong knowledge of project development and regulatory advice in relation to energy projects.

  • Excellent analytical, drafting, and negotiation skills.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build effective relationships across the organisation.

  • Familiarity with the energy market in the UK

  • Experience in financing structures and corporate transactions tax incentives for renewable energy projects.
