Job summary

Mott MacDonald, a global engineering and development consultancy, is seeking a proactive Legal Counsel to join its Group Legal Department in Brighton. The successful candidate will bring substantial PQE in construction law, handling UK and international transactional matters from contractor or engineer perspectives.

You will draft and negotiate a wide range of construction documentation, advise on governance, compliance, litigation and insurance issues, and help maintain templates and guidance

Qualifications

• England and Wales qualified solicitor with extensive PQE.
• Significant experience in negotiating and drafting construction documentation.
• Experience in UK and international transactional construction matters.

Responsibilities

• Draft, review, and negotiate construction documentation including contracts, framework agreements, and guarantees.
• Identify departures from governance and assist project teams with internal approvals.
• Advise the business on applicable laws and regulations.
• Revise and maintain legal templates.
• Draft and update legal guidance.
• Advise on litigation and insurance matters.

Mott MacDonald, a global engineering, management, and development consultancy, is seeking a proactive and positive Legal Counsel to join their Group Legal Department. The successful candidate will have significant practical experience of UK and international transactional construction matters, from a contractor or engineer/architect perspective, gained in either private practice or in-house.

Key Responsibilities and Duties

• Draft, review, and negotiate a broad range of construction documentation including consultancy agreements, construction contracts, framework agreements, collateral warranties, novation deeds, and parent company guarantees.
• Identify departures from governance and assist project teams in obtaining necessary internal approvals.
• Advise the business on applicable laws and regulations.
• Revise and maintain legal templates.
• Draft and update legal guidance.
• Advise business on litigation and insurance matters.

Candidate Specification

The ideal candidate will be an England and Wales qualified solicitor with extensive years of post-qualification experience (PQE). Relevant experience of construction law either in private practice or in-house for a major contractor, engineer, or architect is required. Significant experience in negotiating and drafting construction documentation as a qualified solicitor is also necessary.
