Job description
In-house | Commercial & Compliance | EMEA Scope

A well-established international organisation with a strong presence across Europe, Africa and the Middle East is seeking a business-focused Legal Counsel to join its in-house legal team.

This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified solicitor looking to broaden their exposure across a wide range of commercial, regulatory and strategic legal matters within a collaborative, forward-thinking environment. The role offers genuine variety, stakeholder engagement at all levels, and the chance to contribute to high-profile, future-focused business initiatives.

The Role

Working as part of a regional legal function, you will partner closely with commercial teams to provide pragmatic, solution-driven legal advice across multiple business divisions. The position is broad in scope and will suit someone who enjoys operating as a trusted adviser rather than a purely technical specialist.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Drafting, reviewing and negotiating a wide range of mid to high-value commercial contracts, including supply, services, IT, marketing, agency, distribution, consultancy, sponsorship and logistics agreement.
  • Advising on consumer protection, marketing and advertising law, including customer terms and promotional materials.
  • Providing guidance on general compliance matters, including data protection, competition law, anti-bribery, modern slavery and emerging regulatory frameworks.
  • Supporting and leading strategic projects linked to new business initiatives and regulatory developments.
  • Developing and maintaining legal and compliance policies, and contributing to internal training and awareness programmes.
  • Assisting with corporate governance and company secretarial matters where required.
  • Supporting the rollout and ongoing development of legal systems and contract management tools across the region.
  • Liaising with and managing external legal counsel to ensure quality, consistency and cost-effectiveness.
About You

You will be a confident, commercially minded lawyer who is comfortable balancing legal risk with business objectives.

Essential requirements:

  • Qualified solicitor (England & Wales or equivalent)
  • Minimum 2 years’ post-qualification experience (PQE)
  • Strong grounding in commercial law, with the ability to apply legal principles pragmatically
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, evolving environment with competing priorities
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Confident written and verbal communication in English
  • Able to work effectively across cultures and international jurisdictions

Desirable experience:

  • Previous in-house legal experience
  • Exposure to cross-border or multi-jurisdictional matters
  • Experience within a regulated or complex commercial environment (e.g. automotive, manufacturing, technology or consumer sectors)
  • Familiarity with working in international or multinational organisations
  • Additional European language skills
Working Arrangements:

The organisation offers a flexible working culture, including hybrid working options and adaptable start times, subject to business needs. This role is typically full-time, with flexibility built around core hours.

Why Apply?
  • Broad, high-quality in-house legal exposure
  • Meaningful involvement in strategic and future-focused projects
  • International scope and stakeholder engagement
  • Supportive, inclusive and values-driven culture
  • Long-term career development within a stable, globally recognised organisation
