Job summary

A leading law firm in Gloucester is seeking a Legal Cashier for a 12-month fixed-term contract (maternity cover). The successful candidate will manage client accounts and ensure accurate processing of invoices. Candidates should have substantial experience in accounting and be detail-oriented. This role requires a minimum of GCSEs in Maths and English and may require a DBS check. The salary ranges from £25,000 to £27,000 FTE, depending on experience, with flexible hours considered.

Qualifications

  • Substantial experience in working with numbers generally and in an Accounts environment.
  • Right to live and work in the UK, e.g. valid UK or EU passport or appropriate visa/work permits.
  • Appropriate DBS disclosure will be required prior to confirmation of appointment.

Responsibilities

Overview

Davies and Partners Solicitors is a well-established law firm with over 30 years’ experience. It has a national reputation for excellence in the Property sector and strength in depth in a wide selection of other legal services for businesses & individuals. There are 5 offices in Bristol, Gloucester, Devon, London and Birmingham.

Legal Cashier - 12 months FTC (Maternity Cover)

To provide an efficient and professional accounts service with good communication whilst maintaining client confidentiality and employee confidentiality where appropriate.

Key Duties and Responsibilities
  • Daily management of money received and updating client account ledgers.
  • Sending completion monies out as requested by the fee earner
  • Ensuring any old balances are being dealt with by the relevant fee earner.
  • Amending and closing ledgers as required.
  • Paying invoices and suppliers each month.
  • Generating and inputting client invoices into the system.
  • Provide detailed information on client accounts for each entry.
  • Issue cheques for client and company transactions.
  • Update accounts system regarding online searches.
  • General office duties such as filing, scanning, obtaining signatures on cheques
  • Any other Ad-Hoc duties required.

Salary: £25,000 – £27,000 FTE, depending on experience

Hours: Full or part time hours will be considered.

This role meets the requirements in respect of exempted questions under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974. This role will require applicants who are offered employment to be subject to a criminal record check from the Disclosure and Barring Service before the appointment is confirmed. This will include details of cautions, reprimands or final warnings as well as convictions.
