A leading housing organisation in the United Kingdom is seeking a proactive Legal Assistant to support the Legal Services team. The role focuses on property disrepair claims and requires strong organisational skills, legal experience, and a genuine interest in social housing. Opportunities for training and professional development are available. Working primarily from home with some travel required for team meetings and court observation.
We're looking for a proactive and dedicated Legal Assistant to join our expanding Legal Services team.
This is an exciting new role created at a pivotal time, as new housing legislation comes into effect (Awaab's Law), and our work continues to grow.
You'll be focusing on disrepair cases - an area that's evolving rapidly. As part of the team, you'll play an important role in supporting our in-house legal service, focusing on property disrepair claims and housing management litigation. You'll help ensure that legal matters are handled efficiently, accurately, and in line with the relevant timescales.
Working closely with colleagues, external solicitors, surveyors, contractors, and other partners, you'll help manage cases and coordinate information to ensure that all claims are dealt with professionally and fairly.
This is a great opportunity for someone looking to build their legal career within a supportive, forward-thinking housing organisation, where your work will have a real impact on customers and communities.
You'll have plenty of opportunities to learn and develop, with access to ongoing training and support - including the chance to pursue legal qualifications or specialist housing law development.
You'll be highly organised, proactive, and detail-oriented, able to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines. You'll have a logical approach to problem-solving and be confident analysing information to support fair, evidence-based decisions. You'll have the ability to cross reference information to pull out details which will influence decision making.
You'll need to be comfortable working independently as well as collaboratively, with a flexible approach and the confidence to make sound judgments when required.
You’ll be working primarily from home, with travel required for team meetings (usually monthly in Birmingham or Worcester) and occasional court observation for development.
We are a Disability Confident employer and offer an interview to any applicant who declares they have a disability and meets the minimum criteria for the job.
