We are ambitious and have a bold vision of what we want to achieve – shaping ourselves into one of the best universities in the world, which we are achieving through the talents and endeavour of every employee.

Our culture empowers people to achieve this aim and to collectively, and individually, make a real difference.

The role

The School of Engineering is looking to recruit a full‑time member of academic staff to support its research and teaching in Robotics. The School benefits from extensive national and international collaboration, excellent facilities, and strong links with industry.

Surrey has long‑standing expertise in robotics, focusing on bio‑inspired robotics, medical robotics, robot learning, machine perception, and human‑robot interaction/collaboration. Our researchers solve real‑world problems ranging from agricultural robotics and space robotics to manufacturing, logistics, self‑driving vehicles and autonomous systems.

The successful applicant will be expected to teach on our undergraduate programme in Mechanical Engineering. This is a well‑established programme which attracts high calibre students. An ability and enthusiasm for delivering a high‑quality student experience are essential, and experience in supervising design projects would be welcome. Chartered Engineer status would also be desirable.

The School holds an Athena Swan Bronze Award and is committed to building a culturally diverse organization. We wish to ensure an inclusive interview process and will reimburse up to £250 towards any additional care costs (for a dependent child or adult) incurred as a result of attending an interview for this position.

Please note that this role will be offered at Lecturer, Senior Lecturer or Associate Professor level depending on your experience (see job profiles below for further details). The salary range for a Lecturer B starts at £47,389, a Senior Lecturer starts at £58,225, and an Associate Professor starts at £71,566.

Interviews will be held w/c 15th December.
