About the Role

HSDC is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and passionate individual to join our Adult Learning team. We are a leading provider of Functional Skills courses, supporting adults and young people to develop essential maths skills and prepare for further study. Our commitment is to provide students with the best possible learning experience in an Ofsted-rated "Outstanding" department. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of the Functional Skills Maths curriculum and be able to develop and deliver engaging lessons tailored to adult learners. You will need to provide individual support to help students achieve their goals and work collaboratively with colleagues to ensure smooth running of programmes.

Responsibilities
  • Carrying out appropriate training and assessment workload as agreed with your line manager
  • Agree and review learning programmes with DWP, Employers and Partnership Co-ordinators
  • Undertaking all assessment, marking and grading of regulated courses both online and in the classroom
  • Design bespoke courses of non-regulated training to meet specific JCP demands for their customers
  • Develop and deliver training/coaching sessions (small groups and one to one) as appropriate to their experience and adult needs
  • Undertake IQA responsibilities for appropriate adult courses when required.
Requirements
  • A relevant degree or equivalent qualification
  • PGCE or Cert Ed
  • Experience teaching Functional Skills Maths (Desirable)
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills (Essential)
  • IQA qualifications (desirable but training can be provided)
