Qualifications

  • At least 2 years of experience teaching ESOL is desirable.

About the Role

HSDC is seeking to appoint a 0.12 FTE enthusiastic and passionate individual to join the Adult Learning team. We are a leading provider of ESOL training and education and offer a variety of courses and programs to help adults and young people improve their English skills. We are committed to providing our students with the best possible learning experience. The ideal candidate will have a passion for teaching English to speakers of other languages and a strong understanding of the ESOL curriculum. You will be responsible for developing and delivering engaging and effective lessons, as well as providing individual support to students to help them achieve their learning goals and assess student progress and provide feedback. You must have effective teamwork and communication skills to work with other members of the teaching team to ensure the smooth running of the ESOL program. This opportunity will suit someone with a passion for both the subject and for student success. The postholder must be self‑motivated and innovative, with the ability to inspire our students. The role is 0.12 at Havant Campus (Friday Morning).

Responsibilities
  • Planning effectively and delivering high quality teaching, learning, assessment and support, leading to excellent attendance, retention and achievement.
  • To deliver formal scheduled teaching duties, tutorials (as appropriate) and student assessment.
  • To record, share and regularly monitor student progress using College information systems.
  • To prepare learning plans, schemes of work, keep relevant records and undertake all administration relevant to teaching duties.
  • To attend marketing and promotional events.
Requirements
  • Level 5 or equivalent Teaching Qualification such as Certificate in Education or PGCE or willingness to work towards this.
  • Bachelor's degree in English or a related field.
  • Level 4 or 5 ESOL Subject Specialist Qualification.
  • TEFL/TESOL certification.
  • At least 2 years of experience teaching ESOL (desirable).
  • A CELTA / DELTA is also desirable but not essential.
