Lecturer - Motor Vehicle

Role: Lecturer - Motor Vehicle

Location: Central Bedfordshire College - Dunstable Luton Road Campus

Salary / Benefits: Salary is between £31,930 and £36,878 per annum (Pro-Rata) DOE and Qualifications, 45 days annual leave (Pro-Rata) plus Bank holidays, Teacher’s pension, Retail and Leisure Discounts, excellent professional and personal development opportunities, accessing college courses. Note - Salary and Annual Leave entitlement is for that of a Qualified Lecturer.

Hours / Weeks: 23 hours per week - 52 weeks per year

Contract Type: Permanent - Part Time

About the role

We are currently seeking a Lecturer in Motor Vehicle to join our Motor Vehicle department at The Bedford College Group.

As a Lecturer, you play an important role in the success of our students through:

  • Teaching & Learning Delivery - Deliver engaging, real-world lessons in motor vehicle maintenance (Levels 1-3) and life skills, ensuring students gain practical knowledge and progression opportunities.
  • Planning & Assessment - Prepare schemes of work, plan lessons, assess learner progress, and maintain accurate records to meet awarding body standards and individual learner needs.
  • Classroom & Learner Management - Create a safe, inclusive learning environment, manage behaviour, support attendance, and provide constructive feedback and pastoral support.
  • Collaboration & Development - Work with colleagues and external partners to enhance curriculum delivery, participate in team meetings, and contribute to course development and quality improvement.
  • Compliance & Professional Standards - Uphold safeguarding, EDI, and health & safety policies, engage in professional development, and support college-wide events and initiatives.

About you
  • Qualifications & Vocational Expertise - Degree and Level 3 qualification in a relevant subject, Level 2 in Maths and English, and Assessor Award (or willingness to work towards), with up-to-date industry-standard skills.
  • Teaching & Technical Knowledge - Experience teaching across vocational areas and learner levels, using varied approaches and current technologies, with strong understanding of quality assurance and health & safety.
  • Communication & Interpersonal Skills - Excellent verbal and written communication, ability to motivate and inspire learners, and strong teamwork and relationship-building capabilities.
  • Organisation & Professionalism - Well‑organised, reflective practitioner with good time management, committed to learner success, continuous improvement, and maintaining the College’s professional reputation.
