We are seeking a dynamic and dedicated lecturer in uniformed services & sport to join our team in Colchester. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in delivering engaging teaching, practical training and supporting students’ academic and personal development.

About the role
  • Plan, prepare and deliver high‑quality teaching sessions in uniformed services and sport that meet curriculum standards and learner needs.
  • Develop and update course materials ensuring relevance to current industry practices and standards.
  • Assess and monitor student progress, providing constructive feedback and support to maximise learner achievement.
  • Engage with industry partners to enhance course content and provide students with real‑world insights and opportunities.
  • Support students in developing skills essential for employment within uniformed services and sport sectors, including teamwork, leadership and physical fitness.
  • Contribute to curriculum development and continuous improvement initiatives within the department.
  • Maintain accurate records and comply with college policies and quality assurance processes.
  • Participate in professional development activities to stay current with sector trends and teaching methodologies.
Experience and qualifications
  • Relevant degree or equivalent qualification in sport, uniformed services or a closely related discipline.
  • Teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE, Cert Ed) or willingness to obtain one within a specified timeframe.
  • Experience working in or with uniformed services, sport coaching or physical training is highly desirable.
  • Demonstrable ability to engage and motivate learners from diverse backgrounds.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Commitment to continuous professional development and reflective practice.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding and equality legislation relevant to education settings.
