Overview

The full-time starting salary is normally £44,131.00 per annum, with progression available in post to £51,182.00 per annum.

Birmingham City University is a large, vibrant and culturally rich higher education provider based in the heart of the city. We currently have an exciting opportunity for a fulltime Lecturer on our BA (Hons) Photography course, within the Department of English & Media.

Ranked as the number one photography degree course in the UK for two years running (Guardian League Tables, 2024 & 25), the course is growing rapidly, built upon a rich blend of practice and theory, and a strong focus on employability. The course embraces diverse approaches to photography, encompassing a wide range of genres and empowering student-led approaches to their practice.

Responsibilities

• Be able to teach across all levels of the BA (Hons) Photography course and feed into curriculum development.
• Ideally possess a teaching qualification and/or HEA Fellowship, though the university can also support applicants in attaining these after starting. Industry experience is also highly valued.
• Be expected to understand the industry’s ever-changing landscape and prepare graduates for opportunities within this growing sector.

Qualifications and profile

The successful candidate will be visionary, with both creative and technical expertise. Previous teaching experience is desirable, but not essential.
