Job description

Agile working (blend of home and office based)/ Arrangements for part time appointment/job share would be considered

This post represents an exciting opportunity to join a team of staff in Keele University’s School of Law.

The successful candidate will be joining the Keele Legal Advice Clinic to supervise students in the delivery of legal advice, on a pro bono basis to the citizens of Newcastle-under-Lyme and beyond. The Clinics are currently delivering advice in Small Claims and Commercial matters, and we have run a divorce clinic in the past. We are looking for an ambitious practitioner/academic to support the growth of the Clinic into new fields. Applications will be considered from practitioners with a background in any area of law, but specialisms in Housing, Social Welfare, Employment or Family law would be particularly welcomed.

The successful candidate will also support the delivery of undergraduate teaching, particularly in practice related modules (for example, Professional Legal Skills and Civil Litigation), but a willingness to support other core legal delivery (particularly the Law of Obligations, Property Law or Criminal Law) would be an advantage.

You will be a qualified solicitor or barrister holding, or be immediately eligible for, a practicing certificate in England & Wales. You should have experience of teaching in higher education or an alternative track record of professional experience commensurate to the appointed grade and willingness to gain experience of teaching. Experience of clinical legal education would be an advantage.

Benefits
  • Competitive rate of pay with annual increments within the grade
  • Generous annual leave entitlement with opportunities to purchase additional leave
  • Excellent staff pension scheme
  • Access to continued personal, professional and career development
  • On site ‘outstanding’ nursery
  • Discounted health & fitness facilities on site
  • Cycle to work scheme (subject to eligibility)

Please note that the starting salary will typically be at the bottom of the respective pay scales shown above
