Lecturer in Law (Part-Time, Fixed-term)

We are looking for an exceptional Lecturer in Law (Teaching & Education) to join Birkbeck Law School next Spring on a fixed‑term contract. The role is part‑time and includes duties as an Enhanced Pastoral Tutor (EPT).

Responsibilities
  • Teach Contract Law and contribute to programme curriculum as appropriate to expertise.
  • Provide pastoral care and support for students within a specified area; act as personal tutor and first line support, referring students to additional services as needed.
  • Employ innovations in teaching and learning to meet student needs, developing materials, pedagogies, or teaching collaborations.
  • Undertake administrative and management roles (Exams Officer, Admissions Tutor) as agreed with the Head of School.
  • Maintain up‑to‑date expertise in relevant subject areas.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Teaching experience in law at degree and/or postgraduate level.
  • Understanding of different teaching and learning methods and experience working with students from diverse backgrounds.
  • Ability to lecture and conduct seminars clearly and effectively, with assessment of mentoring support if required.
  • Organisational and administrative skills.
  • Interpersonal skills to relate well to students, especially mature students.
Remuneration and Benefits

Actual salary £22,124 rising to £30,429 per annum (pro‑rated £44,247–£60,858) on the College's London Pay Scale. This includes a consolidated weighting/allowance for staff whose normal contractual place of work is in London.
