Job summary

Blackburn College is seeking a part-time Lecturer in English to deliver English GCSE and Functional Skills to 18.5 hours per week (pro rata). You will join a curriculum team, contribute to delivery, planning, development and student support, with responsibility for attendance and achievement as well as related admin tasks.

You must hold a Level 4+ qualification in a relevant subject and a recognised teaching qualification (or attain within 2 years).

Qualifications

• Minimum Level 4+ qualification in relevant subject and a recognised teaching qualification (or to achieve within 2 years).
• Experience teaching in a UK further education environment.
• Experience working with 19+ groups.
• Strong awareness of current developments in subject disciplines and related industry experience.

Responsibilities

• Deliver English GCSE and Functional Skills to full-time and part-time learners.
• Plan, develop and deliver the curriculum and learning activities.
• Support students and monitor attendance and achievement on courses.
• Carry out administrative tasks related to class responsibility.

Part-time - 18.5hrs per week

As a lecturer you will be part of a curriculum team, contributing to delivery, planning, development and student support. You will deliver English GCSE and Functional Skills, teaching full time and part-time learners. You will be committed to excellence, offering the very highest standards in teaching. You will also be expected to take responsibility for high levels of attendance and achievement on courses delivered, as well as all administrative tasks related to class responsibility.

What we are looking for

You must have a Minimum Level 4 or above qualification in relevant subject discipline and a recognised teaching qualification (or to achieve within 2 years of appointment). You should have experience of teaching in a further education environment in the UK and experience of working with 19+ groups. You will have a strong awareness of current developments within your subject disciplines and relevant industrial and/or professional experience.
