Linguistics and English Language within the School of Social Sciences at Lancaster University seeks to appoint a Lecturer in Discourse Studies (full-time, indefinite). You will join the discipline of Linguistics and English Language, undertaking undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and supervision, developing an innovative programme of research, and contributing to the wider academic life of the discipline through citizenship and leadership roles.

You will hold a PhD in Linguistics (or a cognate area) with a focus in the field of Discourse Studies. You will be able to demonstrate excellence in teaching, initially contributing to modules including Discourse Studies, Critical Discourse Studies, and Language and Creativity in Advertising. You will also provide evidence of a developing trajectory of innovative research through research publications, and plans for grant applications, and engagement and impact work. You will have a developing research profile or trajectory that shows innovation and exploration in the theory, methods or applications of discourse studies. Those whose research advances cognitive, corpus or experimental approaches to discourse analysis or investigates multimodal communication, discourse in contemporary digital spaces, including discourses of gender and sexuality, and/or discourse and AI are particularly encouraged to apply.
