Job summary

Global Banking School is seeking a full-time Lecturer to deliver modules for the HND in Digital Technologies (England, Cyber Security). Teaching may occur on weekdays, evenings and weekends to support the programme delivery.

You will hold a Master's degree and UK HE lecturing experience, with expertise in at least two areas such as Programming, Cloud Computing, Cyber Security, or Big Data. The role is on-site at Greenford, West London, with occasional East London campuses.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in a relevant subject area is required.
• UK higher education lecturing experience is required.
• Expertise in two or more of the listed domains is expected.

Responsibilities

• Plan, deliver, and assess student work to meet learning outcomes.
• Develop and update course materials and use varied teaching methods.
• Engage in staff development and contribute to administrative duties.
• Keep up to date with developments in the field and student support practices.
• Support student attendance, progression, and satisfaction targets.

The role

We are currently seeking a full-time Lecturer to teach as part of our HND in Digital Technologies for England (Cyber Security) programme. Due to our delivery model, we require flexibility to teach during weekdays, evenings and at weekends.

Please note this role is not eligible for visa sponsorship.

What you'll be doing:

As a Lecturer in Digital Technologies at Global Banking School, you will deliver modules based around Big Data, Cyber Security, Networking, Programming, IoT and more. You will develop and deliver comprehensive course materials, that will equip students with a range of key skills essential for entry into this exciting and ever-evolving sector. You will undertake all aspects of learning, teaching and assessment of students and keep up to date with latest developments in your field and student support practices.

Responsibilities include:

• All aspects of planning, delivering, and assessing student work, ensuring that all learning outcomes are met
• Developing, updating, and improving course materials as appropriate
• Using a variety of learning and teaching methods/materials
• Actively engaging in staff development activities, peer observations, meetings and other administrative duties
• Understanding and keeping up to date with latest developments in your field and student support practices
• Working towards a range of clearly defined objectives for student attendance, continuation, completion, satisfaction and student progression

About you:

• You will hold a Master's degree in a relevant subject area (PhD desirable)
• You will have previous UK HE lecturing experience in the wider subject area
• You will be able to demonstrate extensive knowledge of two or more of the following areas:
  • Programming and Software Development
  • Cloud Computing and AWS Technologies
  • Networking and Cloud Networking
  • Cyber Security and Information Security
  • Applied Security and Cryptography
  • Big Data, Business Intelligence and Data Visualisation
  • Digital Transformation and Innovation

  • Professional Practice and Work-Based Learning
• You will have experience supervising student work and providing support and feedback
• You will have experience of accurate reporting and ability to maintain thorough and organised student records
• You will be able to work under pressure, plan and prioritise own workload to meet tight deadlines
• You will have excellent communication, interpersonal and team-working skills
• You will be able to work with diverse groups of people

Desirable:

• You will hold a Postgraduate Certificate of Academic Practice or equivalent teaching qualification (or commitment to enrol on a teaching programme during the probationary period and complete within three years) or Fellowship of HEA (or international equivalent)
• You will have experience of design / development of academic or professional education programmes or equivalent
